4. Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy
Course Objectives:
Description:
This training program is entirely devoted to the transfer of endourological advanced and laparoscopic skills necessary for performing all types of minimally invasive procedures in urology. The training program comprises four distinct minimally invasive surgery teaching modules including Ureteroscopy / Percutaneous Renal Access; Laparoscopic Image-Guided Needle Ablative Cryotherapy of Renal Tumors; Laparoscopic and Robot-Assisted Renal Surgery; and Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy. Registrants will be assigned to a specific preceptor.
The modules will include didactic sessions with the preceptor, pelvic trainer and simulator training, laboratory sessions, observing surgery cases in the UCIMC operating room, and assisting or performing minimally invasive procedures with the preceptor in the UCIMC operating room. They will be requested to complete a multiple choice examination at the completion of the program. If elected, the surgical procedure, which registrants will perform with their proctor in the operating room, will be evaluated with an OSAT scoring system to provide them with a documented evaluation of the surgical procedure.
