Activity Name:	Occupational & Environmental Medicine Symposium
Needs Assessment:	This activity is designed to provide an interactive forum for members to discuss the latest research and developments in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. The course will improve physician and other allied health care provider competence in the prevention, diagnosis and evaluation of work-induced or exacerbated injuries and illnesses. This course is valuable for occupational medicine practitioners, primary care physicians who may see patients with work related disorders, occupational health nurses and anyone involved with the worker compensation system. Course participant evaluations and our community physician annual needs assessment survey have identified the need for up-to-date information. The conference will provide practitioners with evidence based methods and strategies to assist them in providing better treatment options for their patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this activity have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence. HIGHLIGHTS The Opioid Epidemic Environmental & Occupational Asthma Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Workplace Issues: Mental Health Conditions, Common Neck and Upper Extremity Musculoskeletal Disorders, Diabetes in the Workplace
Course Objectives:	At the end of the activity, participants should be able to: Recognize and discuss the opioid epidemic. Evaluate and choose the best methods for addressing occupational & environmental issues such as asthma, diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome and neck/upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders. Discuss and apply practical approaches to mental health conditions in the workplace and readying for an aging workforce. Address issues within an aging workforce.
