GAP Many health care providers are inadequately prepared/educated on how to use the FDA-approved medications for smoking cessation.
BRIEF SUMMARY This session reviews the FDA-approved, first-line smoking cessation medications. Their place in therapy, use in combination therapy, appropriate dosing, key patient counseling points, and precautions/contraindications and other special considerations will be discussed.
OBJECTIVE After viewing the course video, participants should be able to list the FDA-approved first-line smoking cessation medications and describe their dosing, side effects, and precautions/contraindications.
Target Audience This free activity was designed for University of California faculty, staff and students but also open to other healthcare professionals. Note: all respiratory care practitioners (RCP) wanting RCP credit must 1. select "Respiratory Therapist" as their occupation and 2. enter their RCP number in the evaluation form.
