Description:
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Hemophilia, presented by UC San Diego School of Medicine, is a 2 ½ day hands-on course developed to provide training in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) specific to hemophilic joint disease.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Describe MSKUS basics and knobology
Operate an ultrasound machine
Describe sonoanatomy of ankles, knees and elbows
Apply standard transducer positions for hemophilia joint ultrasound
Distinguish bloody from non-bloody effusions
Perform a diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound recognizing hemarthrosis, synovitis and structural abnormalities (meniscus, tendons, ligaments)
Quantify synovial hypertrophy and synovitis by Power Doppler
Quantify cartilage health and osteochondral lesions
