Activity Name:	Meeting the Challenge of Primary Care
Needs Assessment:	It is often said that the "common things occur most commonly" and nowhere is this not more true than in primary care. This four-day symposium will provide the participant with an update on common problems seen in primary care related to preventive medicine, rheumatology, internal medicine, and women's health. A distinguished UCLA faculty group will discuss a variety of topics including hypertension, diabetes, contraception, hepatitis B and C, and common rheumatologic disorders.
Course Objectives:	Following completion of this program, the participant should be able to: Diagnose common thyroid disorders, liver disorders and rheumatologic disorders Manage common problems seen in primary care including diabetes, abnormal liver tests, heart failure, menopause hormone therapy, osteoporosis, and low back pain Implement preventive care measures including cholesterol management, contraception, and hypertension management
