26th Annual UCSF Rheumatology Board Review and Clinical Update 2018
This three-day course presents major clinical topics in the field of Rheumatology to assist physicians preparing for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Subspecialty Examination in Rheumatology. Trainees preparing for their initial board exam as well as rheumatologists who are candidates for ABIM recertification are the target audience. The diagnosis and management of difficult and unusual clinical problems will be emphasized; an overview of important advances related to clinical rheumatology will also be included.

Description: This three-day course presents major clinical topics in the field of Rheumatology to assist physicians preparing for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Subspecialty Examination in Rheumatology. Trainees preparing for their initial board exam as well as rheumatologists who are candidates for ABIM recertification are the target audience. The diagnosis and management of difficult and unusual clinical problems will be emphasized; an overview of important advances related to clinical rheumatology will also be included.
Course Objectives: An attendee completing this course will be able to:
  • Follow appropriate standards of care when treating adult and pediatric patients with rheumatic diseases (including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, other systemic autoimmune diseases, auto inflammatory diseases, seronegative arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, crystalline arthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia, and soft tissue pain syndromes);
  • Make more accurate diagnoses based on the best available data and expert guidance;
  • Monitor the efficacy and safety of rheumatic disease treatments;
  • Utilize newly approved treatments appropriately based on the latest medical evidence.
