This learning module is one of a series of four modules produced in conjunction with California BRIDGE. The goal of this series is to educate inpatient physicians on the identification, treatment, and follow up needs for patients with opioid use disorder. The specific aim of this module, CA Bridge Model: Treatment, Culture & Connection, is to educate emergency physicians on how to identify, treat, and refer patients with substance use disorders.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, learners should be able to:

1. List five symptoms of opioid withdrawal
2. Describe the role a Substance Use Navigator plays in the treatment of patients with opioid use disorder
3. Describe the benefits of buprenorphine initiation in the Emergency Department
4. List four non-opioid analgesics that can be used in patients on buprenorphine

The course material consists of a video presentation that takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Method of participation:

1. View video - handout of slides are available in PDF format
2. Complete the test (Passing score is 100% and with three possible attempts)
3. Complete the evaluation
4. Certificate is available after passing the test and completing the evaluation
