The 9th Annual UCLA Diabetes Symposium
Needs Assessment:
Diabetes poses a major healthcare challenge given its rising prevalence, cost, and risk of chronic complications and co-morbidities. Healthcare providers are required to address these concerns in a changing landscape of therapy and technology where treatments for diabetes continue to expand. The UCLA Annual Diabetes Symposium is a full-day CME program offering providers of varying backgrounds a chance to review optimal state-of-the-art patient care. Experts in the field will review current best practices, including updates in care, guidelines, and technology, as well as address co-morbidities including obesity and diabetes neuropathy.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to: (1) Counsel patients on risks and benefits of type 2 diabetes medications (2) Manage cardiovascular prevention in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (3) Discuss diagnosis and treatment of diabetes prevention (4) Describe the treatment of diabetes neuropathy (5) Discuss pathophysiology and approaches to the treatment of obesity
