Addressing Psychosocial Challenges in Type 1 Diabetes
This course has been designed as a one-day, interactive, case-based workshop that provides HCPs with the fundamental skills to identify the critical T1D psychosocial obstacles, to collaborate more effectively with their patients to promote a stronger sense of patient engagement, and to address the obstacles that make T1D self-management so challenging. The workshop focuses on the introduction and practice of brief interventions for addressing patient barriers (with a special focus on how to harness the power of T1D technology in concert with behavioral strategies), once again relying on a case-based approach towards acquiring the necessary confidence and skills. By the conclusion of the program, participants will have a more comprehensive understanding of the patient perspective on T1D, will be able to assess and decipher the emotional and behavioral aspects of complex case presentations and select the most critical problematic issues that will need to be addressed, will be able to communicate more effectively and collaboratively with their patients during all phases of the disease (from the time of diagnosis though discussion and support during the development of late-stage complications), and will have acquired the skills and confidence needed to help their patients feel more engaged with their own T1D management.

Activity Name: Addressing Psychosocial Challenges in Type 1 Diabetes
Description: This course has been designed as a one-day, interactive, case-based workshop that provides HCPs with the fundamental skills to identify the critical T1D psychosocial obstacles, to collaborate more effectively with their patients to promote a stronger sense of patient engagement, and to address the obstacles that make T1D self-management so challenging.
