Educational Goals

Familiarize participants with the clinical treatment of tobacco use disorder and its congruence with the treatment of other substance use disorders.
Explain the components of tobacco free campus policies and how implementation of these policies helps support smoking treatment.

Learning Objectives

Recognize two disparities in the prevalence of tobacco use disorder experienced by people with other addictions as compared with the general population.
Explain one way recovery from tobacco use disorder enhances recovery from other addictions.
Identify and implement three best practices for treating tobacco use disorder in addiction treatment settings.
Explain how one tobacco-free campus policy can improve clinical outcomes and improve the health of individuals in addiction treatment settings.

The estimated time to complete this live web activity is 60 minutes, which is equivalent to 1.00 credit.

Physicians: The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

California Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts for continuing education credit courses that are provided by entities approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM is acceptable to meeting the CE requirements for the California Board of Psychology. Providers in other states should check with their state boards for acceptance of CME credit.

California Behavioral Science Professionals: The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP). UCSF maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
