Activity Name: 2023 Health Care Forecast Conference
Description: Live Virtual Event
Needs Assessment: Join us for the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business 32nd annual Health Care Forecast Conference, hosted in-person at the Beckman Center, Irvine CA on Thursday, February 23, 2023, and a Welcome Reception the day prior on February 22, 2023. The conference will present a near-term forecast of the health care economic and policy landscape, and in-depth discussions of strategies and delivery system innovations to adapt and drive change, with a focus on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. Presentations will include an examination of recent federal and California health policy developments and how they impact core operational challenges. Speakers will discuss how sectors of the health care system are working to address health equity and social determinants of care, how providers and organizations are managing the shift to value-based care, and how innovation is enabling improved operating efficiency, patient access, care quality and health equity.
Course Objectives:
  • Identify the roles of federal and state governments in setting health policy and how economic and labor market conditions affect the likelihood of success.
  • Assess critically business practices that affect organizational operations and the practice of medicine in 2023 and beyond.
  • Evaluate workforce strategies that may affect organizational operations and the practice of medicine in 2023 and beyond.
  • Assess knowledge of value-based care delivery models, key policy drivers and system challenges, and organizational approaches to adapt to the transition to value, for coordinating care throughout the care continuum, and to manage reimbursement changes and risk associated with value-based care.
  • Determine how shifting public policies and payer strategies that may affect organizational operations and the practice of medicine in 2023 and beyond.
  • Assess knowledge of emerging technologies and how they are integrated within practice, how such technologies enable improved care and efficiencies, the impact the COVID-19 pandemic and the Public Health Emergency has had on the adoption of these innovations and the likely effect the sunset of the PHE and potential future regulatory changes will have on continued adoption of key enabling technologies and health care innovation generally.
