A Hybrid Seminar
Needs Assessment:
The UCLA Department of Ophthalmology Annual Seminar is designed as an update course covering current clinical and research aspects of selected ophthalmic subspecialties. The 1 day program includes the full time faculties of both the Stein Eye Institute and the Doheny Eye Institute, along with nationally prominent invited lecturers. The sessions will address current best practices in management, advanced surgical techniques, latest diagnostic technology, and translational research, in multiple educational formats, including didactic lecture, panel discussion, and case-based interactive presentations.
Course Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- List the changes in timing and methodology of ROP screening based on the 2018 policy statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics
- Describe electrotherapeutic techniques in current use in ophthalmology
- Summarize potential uses for genetic testing in glaucoma
- Identify advantages and disadvantages of minimally invasive vs standard glaucoma surgery techniques
