Description: An In-Person and Virtual Conference
Needs Assessment: The UCLA Solid Organ Transplant Symposium is an in-person and virtual education conference coordinated through UCLA Health Department of Transplant Services; the UCLA Center for Continuing Professional Development and the UCLA Transplant Multi-Disciplinary teams. The goal of this program is to provide a forum for UCLA Transplant multidisciplinary team experts to discuss challenges faced by solid organ transplant teams during pre- and post-transplant patient management and how we are addressing the challenges of equal access in the face of the ever growing organ shortage and our desire to provide transplant for all in need.

- Provide strategies through policy, education and research to address equity issues and access to quality health care for all transplant patients
- Identify 2 barriers to solid organ transplantation
- Identify the significance and clinical application of cell-free DNA testing (cfDNA) in kidney transplant recipients
- Discuss patient journeys with history of cholangiocarcinoma (including state of the art treatment, surgical options, and UNOS MELD exception rules) and identify barriers to treatment and areas in need of future research
- Define alcohol hepatitis as an indication for liver transplantation and identify the evaluation and management: patient outcomes as well as resources available
