13th Annual UCLA Fetal Echocardiography Symposium
An In-Person and Virtual Conference
Activity Details
Activity Name: 13th Annual UCLA Fetal Echocardiography Symposium
Description: An In-Person and Virtual Conference
Needs Assessment: Our Thirteenth Annual UCLA Fetal Echocardiography Symposium promises to be our single most exciting symposium to date! For the first time, this conference will be performed in a hybrid format?live in-person at the state-of-the-art Iris Cantor Auditorium and Garry Shandling Learning Studio at Geffen Hall on the UCLA Campus, and live-streamed around the world. In addition, the symposium will be recorded and available for review online for weeks after the symposium has concluded. Presentations will focus on clinically relevant tips and pearls aimed at sonographers and physicians who perform or interpret fetal cardiac screening examinations or dedicated fetal echocardiography. This year?s faculty?including widely acclaimed sonographers, maternal-fetal medicine subspecialists, and pediatric and adult congenital cardiologists?will provide a comprehensive overview of the basic and more advanced aspects of fetal cardiac imaging, both screening and detailed fetal echocardiography. In addition, the symposium will feature exciting, multi-disciplinary round-table discussions on fetal cardiac screening and fetal echocardiography, reallife, live scanning (normal and abnormal hearts) by experts, and personal testimonials from children with congenital heart disease. Finally, this year ?s symposium will offer, for the first time, a live hands-on scanning workshop (small additional fee) for personalized instruction on scanning.
Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this intensive, one-day symposium, participants will be able to: Discuss current guidelines for fetal cardiac screening and fetal echocardiography Improve their basic approach to screening low risk pregnancies for fetal heart disease Identify new ways to optimize image quality, angle of acquisition, and color/spectral Doppler evaluation of the fetal heart Acquire high-quality images/clips of the four-chamber view, outflow tracts, and three-vessel views Evaluate and diagnose fetal arrhythmias Identify the clinical importance of accurate and compassionate prenatal detection and diagnosis of congenital heart disease
