Psoriatic Arthritis and Healthcare Outcomes
Activity Name:
Psoriatic Arthritis and Healthcare Outcomes
Activity Information:
The goal of this two-module program is to establish the real-world importance of patient-level attributes (knowledge, perceptions, shared-decision making, clinical competence and confidence) during the treatment of patients with psoriatic arthritis and show how a better understanding of these attributes can lead to an improved HCP-patient relationship, truly collaborative and shared decision-making and long-term treatment concordance overcoming the treatment discord that can lead to therapeutic inertia, lack of compliance/adherence and treatment failure. Each of the two modules is accredited 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:
Increased up-to-date working knowledge of the management of psoriatic arthritis including knowledge of guidelines, therapeutic options and common co-morbidities.
Describe patient knowledge & perceptions about PsA, and how that relates potentially to shared decision making.
Explain how patient-level attributes may impact the HCP/patient relationship, office visit conversations, post-visit actions, and how this can lead to therapeutic inertia and low adherence.
Practice a more informed approach to patient education with the goal of reaching treatment accord with more patients, thus raising the level of patient involvement and satisfaction with their care.
Apply knowledge of current PsA treatment guidelines, management options and an appreciation of patient-level knowledge and perceptions to real-world case scenarios.
